POLITICS, PIROGGI, POLISH BLUES: THE FORUM RECHT FOUNDATION INVITES YOU TO THE EXHIBITION CLOSING RECEPTION
To mark the conclusion of the international photo exhibition SPRAWIEDLIWOŚĆ – GERECHTIGKEIT, the Forum Recht Foundation invites you to the closing event in Karlsruhe on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Visitors can look forward to a brunch featuring live music and discussions on the rule of law in Poland and Germany.
Karlsruhe. Piroggen, conversations, and the sounds of the blues duo Arek Błeszyński and Jan Błędowski: On Sunday, April 7, 2024, the international photo exhibition SPRAWIEDLIWOŚĆ – GERECHTIGKEIT will come to a close at the Forum Recht Foundation in Karlsruhe. To mark the occasion, the foundation, together with the Polonia Association for Polish Culture between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. invites you to a Polish brunch at its location on Karlstraße.
In a relaxed atmosphere, the photo exhibition featuring portraits by the Polish photographer comes to a close Piotr Wójcik ...and there will be another opportunity to discuss the justice system and the rule of law in Poland and Germany.
To conclude the event, the Forum Recht Foundation, in cooperation with the Kinemathek Karlsruhe, will screen the documentary „Poland and Democracy—Judges Under Pressure“ at 5:30 p.m., a film that fits the theme.
Fascinating conversation partners, live music, and a Polish buffet
During the closing event, visitors will have the opportunity to connect via video link to Warsaw from Joanna Maria Stolarek, director of the local office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, to learn more about current developments in Poland since the change in government last December and to ask questions. Afterward, Dr. Christiane Schmaltz, a judge on the Federal Court of Justice, and Barbara Seeling, Presiding Judge at the Mannheim Regional Labor Court, joins the roundtable discussion, broadening the perspective to include all of Germany. The discussion is led by the audience itself—without a stage and on an equal footing.
Visitors can also look forward to traditional pierogi and other Polish culinary delights, including vegetarian options. The Polish Blues Duo Arek Błeszyński and Jan Błędowski provides musical accompaniment for the brunch with violin, guitar, harmonica, and vocals.
Afternoon Movie Screening at the Kinemathek Karlsruhe
The final event as part of the photo exhibition is the presentation of the Documentary Film „Poland and Democracy – Judges Under Pressure“, (Poland 2022), also on April 7, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at the Kinemathek Karlsruhe. Many of the exhibition’s key figures, such as Warsaw judge Igor Tuleya, speak in this moving documentary. The film powerfully documents the immense personal commitment with which individual Polish judges, prosecutors, and attorneys fought against the erosion of the rule of law in Poland by the former PiS government.
Guided Tours of the Exhibition
Through April 7, visitors also have the opportunity to gain a deeper insight into the exhibition and its political context through free guided tours. These tours will take place on Thursday, April 4, at 5:00 p.m.; on Saturday, April 6, at 3:00 p.m.; and on Sunday, April 7, during the closing event at 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
