Experiencing the Rechtsstaat (Constitutional State)

We create spaces where people can share their experiences of the law and the Rechtsstaat (constitutional state).

The Forum Recht Foundation is growing. We will build exhibition and learning spaces in Karlsruhe and Leipzig. This will enable us to expand our already diverse and participatory formats. Furthermore, we will offer activities not only in Karlsruhe and Leipzig but also through mobile formats and digital programs. Why do we distinguish between “rule of law” and "Rechtsstaat" (constitutional state)? Though often used interchangeably, the German conception of Rechtsstaat (constitutional state) differs from the Anglo-American “rule of law”. While the “rule of law” primarily emphasizes that everyone is subject to the law, the "Rechtsstaat" concept highlights that the fundamental organization and exercise of state power is based on and limited by the constitution.

To find out more about our work and how the Forum Recht Foundation came about, please feel free to contact us or attend one of our events.
