Panel discussion "How can access to justice become fairer?"
A cooperation between the Stiftung Forum Recht and the German Bar Association (DAV), on October 17 at the DAV-Haus in Berlin
Berlin/Karlsruhe (DAV/SFR). The German civil justice system is experiencing a blatant decline in lawsuits. This is according to a recent report by the Federal Ministry of Justice (BMJ). But why is there less litigation? Could the decline in the willingness to sue be linked to access to the legal system - and possibly a lack of understanding of it? These and other questions will be addressed at the joint discussion event organized by the Stiftung Forum Recht and the German Bar Association (DAV).
Tuesday, October 17, 2023, will be 6:00 pm in the DAV House in Berlin will discuss what lawyers can do as intermediaries between those seeking justice and the judiciary to facilitate access. "We want to address the role of lawyers, who can set the necessary course as a link between those seeking justice and the judiciary," says DAV Managing Director Dr. Sylvia Ruge. Dr. Stephan Nikolaus Barthelmess, Deputy Director of the Forum Law Foundationemphasizes: "We also need to look at the role that structural inequalities and social factors play in the decision to claim one's rights." It will also be discussed whether barriers to access can be overcome with the help of digital applications, i.e. legal tech solutions.
Discussing on the podium Monika Nöhre (former President of the Court of Appeal and co-author of the BMJ final report), Marco Klock. (founder of the legal tech company rightmart) and Rebecca Richter (DUNKEL RICHTER Rechtsanwältinnen) with moderator Ulrich Schellenberg on the various ways to improve access to justice for all.
