Get Involved and Join the Discussion: Youth Constitutional Dialogues
We invite young people to reflect on the future of the Basic Law and the rule of law
In keeping with this year’s anniversary of the Basic Law, the 2024 Karlsruhe Palace Light Show, under the theme „Everybody counts,“ will focus on the topics of justice, freedom, and democracy. With the Young Constitutional Conversations The Forum Recht Foundation is participating in cooperation with the Stadtjugendausschuss e.V. Karlsruhe, Karlsruhe Marketing und Event GmbH, dm-drogerie markt, and the ZEIT Publishing Group are participating in this year's program.
Young people between the ages of 14 and 27 can participate in the Saturday, August 10, 2024, Discuss the topic of „the future“—with a particular focus on the constitution, the rule of law, democracy, and living together—with legal experts and opinion leaders from the world of popular culture on a large stage in Karlsruhe’s market square.
To the Get Involved There are two options:
Advocates and youth groups can now apply for a Register a Placement Project, in which a creative exploration of the Basic Law and the future serves as preparation for the „Young Constitutional Discussions 2024.“.
Individuals or small groups can also participate: At two preparatory sessions starting in mid-July We warmly welcome anyone interested to join the Forum Recht Foundation in preparing for the big discussion!

More on the "Young Constitutional Discussions": Interview with Thomas Stelzl
Thomas Stelzl, head of the Education and Outreach Division at the Forum Recht Foundation, answered questions for „Zeit für die Schule,“ a magazine published by ZEIT-Verlag. In the interview, he outlines the concept behind the “Young Constitutional Dialogues” and explains why it is so important for young people to be able to make their voices heard within and through the institutions of the constitutional state.
We have deliberately opted for a creative, artistic approach to the topic that also involves few hurdles. This allows the participants to give free rein to their thoughts.
A collaboration between the Forum Recht Foundation and the Karlsruhe City Youth Committee, Inc. and KME, with support from dm-drogerie markt and the ZEIT Publishing Group.
