Forum Recht Foundation Presents a Pop-Up Exhibition „Law—The Rules of Everyday Life“ in Mönchengladbach

The mobile pop-up exhibition „Law—The Rules of Everyday Life“ by the Forum Recht Foundation is making its first stop in Mönchengladbach on its tour through Germany. Located on Sonnenhausplatz in the city center, the interactive exhibition invites visitors to think along and participate from August 30 through September 10, 2025.

Where do we encounter the law in our daily lives—and how does it affect our lives?
Whether you're renting an apartment, at work, on the road, or within your family: the law is everywhere. It guides and structures our daily lives together.

The Forum Recht Foundation addresses precisely these everyday situations in its pop-up exhibition „Law—The Rules of Everyday Life“ Complex legal topics are presented here in an accessible and interactive way. Visitors are expressly invited to participate: Using QR codes and a web app, they can record videos with their own smartphones and share their personal experiences. In this way, the exhibition continues to grow over time—and opens up a variety of perspectives on the law in our everyday lives. There’s also the opportunity to playfully immerse yourself in the world of law through quizzes and a spinning cube.

In Mönchendladbach, the Forum Recht Foundation is presenting the pop-up exhibition in cooperation with the city’s Regional Education Office and with support from the Ministry of Justice of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

„With the exhibition „Law—The Rules of Everyday Life,“ we’re bringing a central theme of our democracy right into the heart of our city—right where people are. The Regional Education Office is doing excellent work here by making complex social issues accessible and forging partnerships, such as with the Forum Recht Foundation,“ explains Christiane Schüßler, Deputy Mayor for Education, Culture, and Sports for the City of Mönchengladbach. „Especially in times when democratic values are repeatedly challenged, it is important to offer citizens low-threshold access to topics such as law and the rule of law—directly in their everyday lives and open to everyone.“

The opening of the pop-up exhibition „Law—The Rules of Everyday Life“ will take place on Wednesday, September 3, at 4:00 p.m. at Sonnenhausplatz. At the opening, Josephine Gauselmann, Mayor of the City of Mönchengladbach, Dr. Günter Krings, Member of the Bundestag (CDU) and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Forum Recht Foundation, Dr. Daniela Brückner, State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and Dr. Anna Nübling, Head of the Program and Events Department at the Forum Recht Foundation, will open the exhibition with a welcome address. Following the opening, at 5:00 p.m., guests will have the opportunity to engage in a discussion with legal experts on the topic of „The Rules of Everyday Life“ as part of the „Zu Recht: Nachgefragt“ series.

The traveling exhibition will tour Germany starting in July 2025 and will be on display at train stations, shopping centers, and market squares—anywhere where the law and everyday life intersect. After Karlsruhe, Heidelberg, and Mönchengladbach, „Law—The Rules of Everyday Life“ will make stops in Leipzig, Dresden, Pirna, and Dortmund.

„Law—The Rules of Everyday Life“ will be on display around the clock every day from August 30 to September 10, 2025, at Sonnenhausplatz in Mönchengladbach. Admission to the exhibition is free.
