""Leipzig liest" (Leipzig Reads)" A Guest at the Forum Recht Foundation
The Forum Recht Foundation is participating in the Reading Festival "Leipzig liest" (Leipzig Reads) On March 29, she will host the panel discussion „Law. Power. Politics.“ featuring Julia Borggräfe, Nina Poppel, Ilija Trojanow, and Jürgen Wertheimer.
Leipzig. During the Leipzig Book Fair, the Forum Recht Foundation will serve as a venue for one of the more than 2,000 events organized by "Leipzig liest" (Leipzig Reads). The Panel Discussion: „Law. Power. Politics“ brings on Saturday, March 29, at 8:00 p.m. The authors Julia Borggräfe, Nina Poppel, Ilija Trojanow, and Jürgen Wertheimer will engage in a discussion; in their latest books, they examine the topics of law, power, and politics from different perspectives.
The Lawyer Julia Borggräfe shows how an effective government can strengthen trust in the state and democracy, and presents concrete solutions. In his „Book of Power,“ the author Ilija Trojanow She examines the seminal work of the „Bulgarian Machiavelli,“ Stojan Michailowski, and reflects on the nature of power and its dangers. The political scientist and well-known political content creator on TikTok and Instagram, Nina Poppel, explains how democracy works, how the Basic Law affects our daily lives, and how political processes shape our rights. The literary scholar Jürgen Wertheimer has examined the literary figure of Cassandra in depth. He analyzes the patterns of „foretold catastrophes,“ the power of deliberately ignoring knowledge, and asks whether literature can predict wars.
The panel discussion is an event organized by "Leipzig liest" (Leipzig Reads), the reading festival of the Leipzig Book Fair. The discussion is moderated by Eric Marr, freelance host and journalist.

About the Panelists
Julia Borggräfe is a lawyer and, since 2022, has served as co-managing director and associate partner at Metaplan Gesellschaft für Verwaltungsinnovation. Prior to that, she established the Department of Digitalization and the World of Work as well as the Think Tank Department at the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and held senior management positions in the automotive industry and the service sector. She advises on strategy and organizational development as well as innovation and transformation processes.
Nina Poppel is a political scientist, journalist, and host. She has worked for ZDF and SWR, among others, and regularly hosts events. Her main areas of focus are foreign and security policy, as well as feminism. She also uses Instagram and TikTok (under the handle nini_erklaert_politik) to explain political events in a simple, factual, and humorous way.
Ilija Trojanow, born in 1965 in Sofia, Bulgaria, grew up in Germany and Nairobi. From 1984 to 1989, he studied law and ethnology in Munich. There, he founded two publishing houses. In 1998, Trojanow moved to Mumbai, then to Cape Town in 2003; today, when he is not traveling, he lives in Vienna. His novels, such as *The Collector of Worlds*, *Power and Resistance*, and *A Thousand and One Mornings*, as well as his travelogues, are acclaimed bestsellers and have won numerous awards.
Jürgen Wertheimer, Born in 1947, is Professor Emeritus of International Literature, Modern German Literature, and Comparative Literature at the University of Tübingen. He directs the research project „Cassandra: Early Crisis Detection through Literary Analysis,“ which he initiated. Other books include: „Don Quixote’s Heirs: The Art of the European Novel,“ „Literature as a World Language: The Globalization of Words,“ „Schiller’s Players and Scoundrels,“ „History of European Cultures,“ and most recently, „Kant: A Magician of Reason.“.
