Impetus for the rule of law: Digital Symposium 3.0
The Forum Recht Foundation is Raising Its Profile | Digital Symposium 3.0 to Be Livestreamed on July 1
Karlsruhe. How can the rule of law be taught? How are human rights demonstrated? What role does the rule of law play in civic education? These and other questions will be discussed by over 50 scholars and cultural professionals at the interdisciplinary digital Symposium 3.0 hosted by the Forum Recht Foundation on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Nine selected case studies from the international field of art education and exhibition practice will be presented in three thematic blocks. Pre-recorded, multi-perspective video clips will serve as an introduction to the subsequent panel discussion. The discussion will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Susanne Baer, a judge on the Federal Constitutional Court, and Prof. Dr. Eckart Köhne, President of the German Museum Association (Deutscher Museumsbund e. V.). The symposium will be livestreamed in German and accompanied by graphic recording.
Henrike Claussen, Director of the Forum Recht Foundation, explains the approach: „During our discussions on the foundation’s mission, we repeatedly encountered the question of how to conceptually address the relationship between the rule of law and the rule of law itself, on the one hand, and democracy, human rights, and injustice, on the other. We do not want to lose sight of the foundation’s core mission—promoting the rule of law—and aim to create concrete approaches to legal topics.“ The Digital Symposium 3.0 marks a resumption and continuation of the expert symposia already held in 2018 in preparation for the foundation’s establishment.
