How Does the Federal Administrative Court Adjudicate Our Rights in Relation to the State?—A Conversation with Prof. Dr. Andreas Korbmacher
The Forum Recht Foundation invites you to a discussion with Prof. Dr. Andreas Korbmacher, President of the Federal Administrative Court, on February 19, 2025, at 7:00 p.m..
Leipzig, February 10, 2025. On Wednesday, February 19, is Prof. Dr. Andreas Korbmacher, President of the Federal Administrative Court, the first guest at the Leipzig premiere of the new discussion series „Let’s Talk About Law“ the Forum Recht Foundation. He will be speaking with Marie-Elisabeth Miersch, a research associate at the foundation, to discuss current disputes, lengthy legal proceedings, and the role of Germany’s highest administrative court in our daily lives.
Whether it’s wind turbines, diesel vehicle bans, or species conservation—when politics, business, and public interests clash, the dispute often ends up before the Federal Administrative Court. The court is tasked with protecting citizens’ rights against the state. In this interview, Prof. Dr. Andreas Korbmacher explains exactly how this works, why proceedings often take a long time, and why administrative law is anything but dry. Why does the court sometimes rule against citizens’ rights? And what role do environmental organizations and large infrastructure projects play in the court’s work? The Audience is invited to participate in the discussion by asking questions.
Starting in February and continuing through the end of the year, the Forum Recht Foundation will be hosting a regular series of discussions titled „Let’s Talk About Recht.“ To The guests are prominent figures from various fields of law, who share insights into their day-to-day work and discuss current and fundamental legal issues that affect us all.
The Conversation will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Stiftung Forum Recht in Leipzig (Universitätsstraße 20) and will be available afterward as Podcast published on the foundation's website and on popular podcast platforms. Admission is free.
