The Forum Recht Foundation invites you to a discussion on March 12, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. titled „The Hotbed of Conflict: Tenancy Law—Housing, Rent, and Disputes“ one. Our guests are attorney Ruth Zöller, executive director of the Karlsruhe Tenants' Association (Mieterverein Karlsruhe e.V.), and attorney Götz Pasker, president of the Karlsruhe Bar Association (Karlsruher Anwaltsverein e.V.).

Karlsruhe, March 4, 2025. In an increasingly tense Housing Market The fear of eviction or rising costs leads many tenants to avoid conflict. Instead, they put up with problematic lease terms because they see themselves as being in a weaker position. At the same time, landlords criticize the fact that the Tenant Protection is constantly expanding, causing them to lose flexibility. Tenant protection laws are meant to mediate between the two sides—but do they really succeed? Who is responsible for ensuring a fair housing market? And how can the interests of tenants and landlords be better reconciled?

On March 12, the audience in Karlsruhe can look forward to the lecture series „Let’s Talk About Law“ Two guests with expertise in rental law: In this debate, they discuss the issue from the tenants' perspective Ruth Zöller, a specialist attorney in rental and condominium law and managing director of the Karlsruhe Tenants’ Association (Mieterverein Karlsruhe e.V.), and representing the perspective of landlords Götz Pasker, who is also a specialist attorney in rental and condominium law and president of the Karlsruhe Bar Association (Karlsruher Anwaltsverein e.V.). In conversation with Marie-Elisabeth Miersch In collaboration with the Forum Recht Foundation, they examine legal issues surrounding the growing housing shortage, as well as the rights and obligations of both parties.

Since February 2025, the Forum Recht Foundation in Karlsruhe has been hosting a regular series of discussions through the end of the year „Let’s Talk About Law“ . The guests are always Prominent Figures from Various Fields of Law, who talk about their day-to-day work and share their perspectives on a current legal issue. The topics selected for this series of discussions are closely tied to people’s lives and are relevant to everyone: from labor law to tenancy law to freedom of speech.

The discussion will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Stiftung Forum Recht in Karlsruhe (Karlstraße 45A). Admission is free.
