Making the Law Accessible: The Forum Recht Foundation Invites You to Public Events in Freiburg

Through a panel discussion, free legal advice, and a pop-up exhibition, the Forum Recht Foundation brings the topic of law to life in Freiburg.

Freiburg. To mark the 2026 German Lawyers„ Day, which is taking place in Freiburg this year, the Forum Recht Foundation is hosting several public events from May 27 through June 15, inviting the public to rediscover law and the rule of law in everyday life. Featuring a panel discussion, free legal counseling, and the interactive pop-up exhibition “Law—The Rules of Everyday Life,” the program is aimed at all Freiburg residents—far beyond the professional audience of the Lawyers’ Day.

The event kicks off with the Mobile Pop-Up Exhibition „Law—The Rules of Everyday Life“ the Forum Recht Foundation. As part of its tour of Germany, it is now on display in Freiburg for the first time for nearly three weeks. At the Europaplatz Loading the interactive exhibition May 27 through June 15, 2026 invites visitors to think along and get involved around the clock. It vividly illustrates how deeply legal rules shape our daily lives—from rental law and traffic regulations to family and work. Visitors can playfully immerse themselves in the world of law through quizzes, a video app, and interactive stations.

On Monday, June 8, 2026, 7:00 p.m. The Foundation, together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the German Bar Association, invites you to the Panel discussion „Access to Justice: Does Justice Belong to Those Who Can Afford It?“ at the University of Freiburg. The event will focus on social inequalities in access to the legal system and the question of how trust in the rule of law can be strengthened. Guest speakers will include Paula Edling from the Berlin Social Science Center and Dr. Fabian Widder, Vice President of the German Bar Association. Gottfried Haufe will moderate the event.

A special offer is aimed at Thursday, June 11, 2026, directly for people with legal questions: At the Freiburg Social Court, there will be a session from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Legal Advice on social law topics. The consultation is conducted by members of the Executive Committee of the Social Law Working Group of the German Bar Association and is free of charge and does not require registration.

Through its events in Freiburg, the Forum Recht Foundation aims to foster discussion about the law and the rule of law and to promote understanding of these topics. The events and the exhibition are being held in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, e. V. and the German Bar Association takes place.

The German Lawyers’ Conference is a nationwide gathering of the legal profession dedicated to professional and legal-policy issues. It brings together the legal profession, the judiciary, politicians, academics, and the press annually to foster dialogue. In conjunction with the conference, the Forum Recht Foundation organizes events designed to specifically open up dialogue on law and the rule of law to the broader urban community. The Forum Recht Foundation is also represented with its own booth at the German Lawyers’ Conference.
