Grand Opening: „Law—The Rules of Everyday Life“

The Forum Recht Foundation's first pop-up exhibition invites visitors to get involved

Where do we encounter the law in our daily lives? How does it shape our lives? And who has what kind of experiences with the law? Whether we’re renting, working, driving, shopping, or spending time with family—the law is all around us. With the interactive pop-up exhibition „Law—The Rules of Everyday Life,“ the Forum Recht Foundation offers food for thought on these questions and invites visitors to get involved.

„Law—The Rules of Everyday Life“ will be on display around the clock every day from July 1 to August 3, 2025, at Karlsruhe Central Station. To the Opening on July 1 at 11:30 a.m. welcomes Dr Cord Brügmann, Director of the Forum Recht Foundation, addressed those present. Dr. Frank Mentrup, Mayor of the City of Karlsruhe, and Martin Büchle, Head of Station Management (Mein_Einkaufsbahnhof/DB InfraGO AG), will deliver opening remarks, and the project manager Charlotte Großmann provides an introduction to the exhibition.

Following the exhibition, the Forum Recht Foundation will present the accompanying program in collaboration with Ulrich Bunk, Vice President of the Karlsruhe Regional Court. Participants will receive a set of cards that they can use right there at the exhibition to strike up a conversation—for example, with a lawyer, a judge, or people in other legal professions—about the “rules of the game” in everyday life.

Visitors can use their own smartphones to record videos and share their personal experiences in the exhibition via a QR code and a web app. Thanks to these contributions, the exhibition continues to evolve over the course of its run and highlights a wide variety of perspectives.

The traveling exhibition Starting in July 2025, the exhibition will tour Germany and can be seen at train stations, shopping centers, and town squares—anywhere where the law and everyday life intersect. After Karlsruhe, „Law—The Rules of Everyday Life“ will make stops in Heidelberg, Mönchengladbach, Leipzig, and other cities.

Accompanying program

In conjunction with the exhibition, the Forum Recht Foundation is hosting a series of meet-and-greet events on two afternoons „Right on: Let’s Dig Deeper!“ Participants can speak directly on site with, for example, a lawyer, a judge, or professionals from other legal fields about "The rules of everyday life" speak.

A set of cards featuring personal questions, everyday legal issues, and specialized questions about the law and the rule of law makes it easier to start a conversation. Join the discussion and share your perspective on the rule of law with us!
