A Tour of Leipzig
So what’s the deal with freedom of assembly? What does the Federal Administrative Court do? What’s the story behind the „Woyzeck“ case? And how does the law relate to our everyday lives?

The city walking tour, which is about three kilometers long, begins at the square in front of the Federal Administrative Court, passes by the Regional Court, the New City Hall, and the Stasi Records Archive on its way to the Market Square, and from there continues through the Mädler Passage to St. Nicholas Church and Augustusplatz, ending at the offices of the Forum Recht Foundation.
The tour highlights Places related to the law, such as three major courts where justice is administered and cases are heard. The tour guides explain fascinating legal cases such as the Woyzeck, Egenberger, and Mephisto cases. Passing by one of the largest city hall buildings in the world, we walk in the historical footsteps of the city and the Rule of Law: Follow us and discover a whole new side of Leipzig!
From April through October, we offer a walking tour of Leipzig every third Thursday of the month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.! In addition, in cooperation with the Foundation for Sites of German Democratic History, there are two Special Editions on „The History of Democracy“ on May 21, 2026 (5:00 p.m.) and May 23, 2026 (11:00 a.m.). The meeting point is the square in front of the Federal Administrative Court, Simsonplatz 1, 04107 Leipzig. Please look for an orange umbrella! We’ll meet—facing the building—on the right side of the square, near the monument to the Peaceful Revolution. Participation is free of charge and does not require advance registration.

The Free Walking Tour with the Forum Recht Foundation in Leipzig takes place from Held on the third Thursday of every month from April through October.

The events on May 21 and 23 will take place in cooperation with the Foundation for Sites of German Democratic History takes place.
May 23 will also take place as part of the „Honor Day“ organized by the German Foundation for Civic Engagement and Volunteerism.
It lasts around two hours.
The tour is free of charge. Registration is not required.
The tour is accessible. The route features lowered curbs for wheelchair users. Participants should be comfortable with a walk of approximately 3.0 km. Please note that we do not offer additional assistance for people with visual or hearing impairments. Headphones are available for about 30 guests, and the tour guide’s voice is amplified with a microphone. You should also expect to encounter numerous sensory stimuli in the urban environment during the tour.

By participating in the tour, you agree to be photographed and to have these images published in the media mentioned above. If you do not wish to be recognizable in any photos or videos, please inform the photographer or a member of the event team before the event begins.
