„Happiness on a Scale of 1 to 10“ – „Law and Justice“ Film and Discussion Series“
In cooperation with the Kinemathek Karlsruhe, we’re embarking on a cinematic exploration of the topic „LAW AND JUSTICE: BETWEEN UTOPIA AND REALITY“.
Join us and a select group of experts in a discussion on climate, punishment, sports, and justice, and discover the highlights of international film culture with us.
Our next movie and discussion night: „Happiness on a Scale of 1 to 10“ by Bernard Campan and Alexandre Jollien (France 2022, original version with subtitles)
Igor lives alone and works part-time as a bike courier delivering organic vegetables. It would be nice to have a few more connections with other people, but otherwise, the physically disabled amateur philosopher isn’t unhappy. Louis, on the other hand, is a 24/7 entrepreneur, a workaholic who has forgotten how to enjoy life because he’s so caught up in his work at his funeral home. When he hits Igor with his bike, he feels doubly embarrassed: first, because of his carelessness, and second, because he has obviously injured a person with a disability. An accident with surprising consequences.
Afterward, we’ll discuss inclusion and justice with two staff members from Lebenshilfe Karlsruhe, Ettlingen, and Surrounding Areas e. V. Michael Auen is the chairman of the board of the organization, which offers decision-making support, guidance, and counseling. Clemens Lennermann worked at Lebenshilfe for many years, founded an inclusive theater group, and has been wheelchair-bound himself since suffering a stroke. He is therefore able to speak about the topic of inclusion from a variety of perspectives.
