Living the Constitution! 30 Years of the Saxon Constitution

Conversation and Spoken Word Performance

Forms of direct democratic participation, as well as social, cultural, and environmental state objectives, are hallmarks of the Saxon Constitution. Yet constitutions, laws, and rights—as regulatory texts and promises of hope—only become tangible when they are applied and implemented. On the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Free State of Saxony, we are therefore asking how people experience the Saxon Constitution 30 years after it went into effect.

Where do they encounter the values that form the core of the Constitution in their daily lives, and what significance do the state’s objectives hold? What do you expect from the Constitution, and how do you yourselves contribute to its implementation? Does the Constitution play any role at all in your daily lives? And if not, how could interest in reflecting on the Constitution and the Saxon rule of law be sparked?
