Germany Celebrates 75 Years of the Basic Law: The Federal Government's Festival of Democracy

On May 23, 2024, our Constitution will celebrate its 75th anniversary.

The federal government plans to celebrate this anniversary. The celebrations will begin on May 23, 2024, with a state ceremony in Berlin.

Following that, a festival celebrating democracy will take place from May 24 to 26, 2024, and all citizens are cordially invited to attend.

A colorful and varied program is being planned around the Federal Chancellery and the Paul-Löbe-Haus of the German Bundestag, in which the federal states and many civil society organizations will also participate. The Forum Recht Foundation will also participate with a booth as part of the Festival of Democracy. The Federal President, the Bundestag and the Bundesrat, the Federal Chancellor, the Federal Constitutional Court, and the federal ministries will all be in attendance.

The closing ceremony on Sunday evening is set to be the festive highlight of the Democracy Festival.
