In our daily lives, we’re encountering more and more data-driven applications, machines, and artificial intelligence systems that are designed to help us and make life easier. From „smart living“ applications that promise greater energy efficiency and convenience in our own homes, to the early detection of diseases through „digital health,“ to perfectly tailored product offerings in online stores.
The more data these applications have at their disposal, the better they work. At the same time, concerns are growing about the misuse of data by government or private-sector actors.
In this event, we'll discuss with experts why data is such an important resource today.

Who uses data, and for what purposes? In what areas does the widespread use of data benefit us, and where does it become dangerous or open to abuse? What legal frameworks apply to data protection and data security? Should we withhold data or, on the contrary, share it to enable meaningful use? Where is data collected in the first place, and how do we maintain control over it?
