New Card Set as a Conversation Starter

How can you start a conversation about the law? The Forum Recht Foundation has developed a set of question cards that you can use to discuss the law and the rule of law with experts.

„Does the law sometimes frustrate you? Where are the limits of freedom of speech? Why do court proceedings take so long?“—The set includes a total of 75 question cards covering three topic areas „Ask Away: You Have Every Right!“: ranging from personal questions and everyday legal issues to technical questions about the law and the rule of law. The card set will be used at the foundation’s events and workshops and is available from the foundation upon request.

Five people are standing around a bar table. Two women on the right are looking at postcards they are holding in their hands.

The cards serve as conversation starters and were developed by the Foundation for Table Talks, where participants come together with experts—such as a judge, a lawyer, a police officer, or a bailiff.

The questions make it easier to start the conversation and do not require any prior knowledge. Participants choose which questions they’d like to ask. There is no set order or weighting for the questions. The experts being interviewed can use a “joker” to skip a question if, for example, it doesn’t fall within their area of expertise or if they’d prefer not to answer it. Of course, you’re also welcome to ask your own questions.

Those interested can try out the card set directly at some of the foundation's upcoming events in Karlsruhe: On July 22, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the „Zu Recht: Nachgefragt!“ event as part of the pop-up exhibition at Karlsruhe Central Station, or on August 2, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Forum Recht Foundation as part of the Karlsruhe Museum Night.

Card set available upon request

The card set is a component of the Foundation’s educational programs, which will be expanded even further in the future. The card set will be used regularly in workshops.

In addition, institutions and individuals working in fields such as social services, law, or education can also receive the card set free of charge for their own educational work upon request. To do so, please send us an email specifying your institution and your full address to vermittlung@stiftung-forum-recht.de. Currently, we can only ship one copy per request; if you would like multiple copies, please indicate this in your email.

The card set comes with an instruction manual that includes tips for playing and game variations.

There are several postcards with questions and illustrations on a high table. Next to them is a cardboard box with the inscription "Inquired: Your right!"
The card set was designed for dinner table conversations and is intended to help get the conversation started.
