Interviews for the Festival of Lights installation „Fortuna. Futura. Libertas“ at the Forum Recht Foundation in Leipzig

Artists invite you to participate in interviews for their work „Fortuna. Futura. Libertas“ on May 14, 15, and 17

Every year on October 9, Leipzig is bathed in candlelight to commemorate the Peaceful Revolution of 1989. Just as thousands once demonstrated loudly but nonviolently for their freedom, citizens will once again carry thousands of candles through the city center on October 9, 2024. In addition, numerous light installations and artistic interventions will be on display around Leipzig’s inner city ring road, giving a tangible form to remembrance and artistically reflecting on the events from today’s perspective. The year 2024 marks the 35th anniversary of the Peaceful Revolution.

Preparations for the Leipzig Festival of Lights 2024 are already in full swing. One of the approximately 20 planned art installations along the city center ring road is by Liudmila Siewerski, Katia Sophia Ditzler, Charlotte Bach, and Marisol Jiménez, an international team of female artists. They are inviting the people of Leipzig to contribute to the content of their work „Fortuna. Futura. Libertas.“ To this end, the artists will be creating videos and audio recordings in Leipzig from May 14 to 17 with the goal of collecting many different voices for a collage. For their work, the artists are interviewing people in the city center, as well as conducting interviews with prominent figures in the city.

The artists will be available for interviews at the Forum Recht Foundation on Tuesday, May 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., as well as on Wednesday, May 15, and Friday, May 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Feel free to stop by at Universitätsstr. 20 and become part of the installation for the 2024 Festival of Lights!

The Forum Recht Foundation is a local partner of the art project „Futura. Fortuna. Libertas.“.
