Digital Mediation in Law and Government #2

The new virtual training program, „Digital Education on Law and the Rule of Law,“ is aimed at professionals in the fields of education and social services, lawyers interested in teaching these subjects, and others from across Germany who are interested in the topic. In a concise webinar, the Forum Recht Foundation provides a wide range of insights into topics, methods, and materials for effective legal and rule-of-law education and offers an opportunity for questions and discussion.

In the second installment of the webinar, we'll present the work of the German Institute for Human Rights e.V. before. Michael Schwandt, Head of the Human Rights Education Department, provides insights into his department's educational materials and explains, among other things, how they can be integrated into one's own educational work. 

As Germany's independent national human rights institution, the German Institute for Human Rights the task of promoting Germany’s commitment to and advancement of human rights—both domestically and internationally. In addition, the Institute has been entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring the implementation of the UN Conventions on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and on the Rights of the Child, as well as reporting on compliance with the Council of Europe Conventions on human trafficking and on violence against women and domestic violence. To this end, it has established its own monitoring and reporting units. Politically, the Institute is not bound by any directives and is committed solely to human rights. Since 2015, its work has been based on the „Act on the Legal Status and Tasks of the German Institute for Human Rights,“ which defines its legal status, its tasks, and its funding. Organizationally, it is structured as a nonprofit association; it is funded by the German Bundestag, supplemented by third-party funding for individual projects.
