Love, hate or the pursuit of justice are at the beginning of every exciting film story from Pasolini to Tarantino. Yet the idea of justice in everyday life is as personal and different as the standard for injustice.<\/p>\n

But what do we actually mean by justice in everyday life?
\nWho determines what is right and just?
\nAnd what does that have to do with the rule of law?<\/p>\n

The Forum Recht Foundation, in cooperation with the Kinemathek Karlsruhe, is exploring these and other questions in a multi-part, interdisciplinary series of films and discussions.<\/p>\n

The Kickoff<\/strong> takes place on 19.10.2022<\/strong> the theme of \u201eRevenge and Justice\u201c in the film \u201e\u201cThree Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri\" (USA, 2017)<\/strong>. In Martin McDonagh's feature film, the mother of a young woman who was murdered in a small U.S. town tests the limits of vigilante justice and makes her voice\u2014and her desire for answers\u2014heard.<\/p>\n

Following the film screening, we will speak with the justice expert Prof. Dr. Manfred Schmitt<\/strong> on how psychology views the desire for justice. Why do some people decide to seek revenge while others do not? And what role does the justice system play in the emergence and prevention of the desire for revenge?<\/p>\n
