In the second installment of the webinar, we'll present the work of the German Institute for Human Rights e.V. <\/span>before. Michael <\/strong><\/span>Schwandt<\/strong>, Head of the Human Rights Education Department, provides insights into his department's educational materials and explains, among other things, how they can be integrated into one's own educational work.<\/p>\n

In the second installment of the webinar, we'll present the work of the German Institute for Human Rights e.V. <\/span>before.\u00a0<\/span>The German Institute for Human Rights<\/strong> is Germany's independent national human rights institution. Its statutory responsibilities include conducting research and providing policy advice to strengthen and protect human rights in Germany. It is funded by the German Bundestag and is accredited to the United Nations.
\nAnother important mission of the institute is human rights education (HRE). This educational approach is described in the 2011 United Nations Declaration. It consistently encompasses the three-pronged approach of education about, through, and for human rights. It is aimed at all people as holders of fundamental and human rights, but also specifically at government officials who are responsible for guaranteeing these rights.<\/p>\n

On October 7, we will discuss what human rights education entails in this sense, how it relates to political education, and how it contributes to the \u201eteaching of the law\u201c with Michael Schwandt<\/strong>, Head of the Human Rights Education Division at the Institute for Human Rights. You can learn more about this person here.\u00a0 <\/a>Dorothea Knorre and Sebastian Bonnet from the Forum Recht Foundation will moderate the event.<\/p>\n

This online program is aimed at professionals in the fields of education and social services, lawyers interested in legal education, and others from across Germany with an interest in the topic. In a concise webinar, the foundation provides insight into topics, methods, and materials for effective legal and rule-of-law education and offers an opportunity for questions and discussion.<\/p>\n
