The interactive discussion series \u201eLet\u2019s Talk About Recht\u201c will take place in October at the ZKM as part of the Karlsruhe symposium \u201eFewer \u2013 Older \u2013 More Diverse\u201c <\/strong><\/p>

Karlsruhe. <\/strong>How can a city respond to demographic change from a legal perspective? The Forum Recht Foundation is dedicated to addressing this question Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.<\/strong> at the Media Theater of the ZKM | Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe. In the interactive discussion series \u201eLet\u2019s Talk About Recht\u201c <\/strong>says the host Alena Lagm\u00f6ller <\/strong>with Prof. Dr. Winfried Kluth, <\/strong>Professor of Public Law at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and former judge at the Constitutional Court of Saxony-Anhalt and \u00a0Heike <\/strong>Dederer-Sch\u00f6berl,\u00a0<\/strong>Head of the City Planning Department in Karlsruhe, on the legal possibilities and challenges for Karlsruhe. Kluth\u2019s research focuses, among other things, on general administrative law and environmental and municipal law.<\/p>

This event serves as the interactive conclusion to the symposium \u201eFewer\u2014Older\u2014More Diverse: Opportunities and Challenges for Our Society.\u201c.<\/p>

We are already seeing rapid demographic change, which will continue in the coming years: While the population is shrinking in some regions, other municipalities\u2014such as Karlsruhe\u2014continue to grow\u2014and are becoming more diverse at the same time. This raises specific questions for urban development: How can housing, care services, mobility, schools, and other infrastructure be designed to be sustainable for the future? What responsibilities fall to local governments, where do state and federal governments come into play\u2014and what legal tools are available to a city like Karlsruhe to actively shape its development? The audience is cordially invited to join the discussion and contribute their own questions to the conversation.<\/p>

The discussion will take place at 4:30 p.m. in the Media Theater at ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe (Lorenzstra\u00dfe 19). Admission is free. No registration is required.<\/p>

Stiftung Forum Recht is a co-organizer of the Karlsruhe Symposium \u201cLess \u2013 Older \u2013 More Diverse: Opportunities and Challenges for Our Society,\u201d taking place on October 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.\n\nThe symposium is organized by Karlsruher Forum f\u00fcr Kultur, Recht und Technik e. V., in cooperation with the City of Karlsruhe\u2019s Office of Cultural Affairs and ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe.<\/p>

Let's Talk About Recht<\/strong>
Since 2025, the Forum Recht Foundation has been regularly hosting the \u201eLet\u2019s Talk About Recht\u201c discussion series at its venues in Karlsruhe and Leipzig. The guests are prominent figures from various fields of law who discuss their day-to-day work and share their perspectives on current legal topics\u2014ranging from labor law and tenancy law to freedom of speech.
