The Forum Recht Foundation invites you to a discussion on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., titled \u201eLaw at the Borders: A Legal Perspective on Migration,\u201c featuring <\/strong>Prof. Dr. Daniel Thym. How can a legal perspective help in this heated debate?<\/strong><\/p>

Leipzig.\u00a0<\/strong>No issue has dominated the recent Bundestag election campaign quite like migration. From the idea of an open-door immigration society to serious concerns about communities\u2019 capacity for integration, to positions that call fundamental rights into question: the public debate remains heated. Can a legal perspective counter this growing polarization? \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

On April 9, the lawyer and expert in immigration law Prof. Dr. Daniel Thym<\/strong> from the University of Konstanz, a guest speaker in the lecture series \u201e\u201cLet's Talk About Law\"<\/strong> the Forum Recht Foundation. In his latest book, *Managing Migration: A Guide for the Here and Now* (C.H. Beck, 2025), Thym seeks legal and policy-based answers to current challenges. In the discussion \u201eLaw at the Borders: A Legal Perspective on Migration,\u201c he discusses Marie-Elisabeth Miersch<\/strong>, a research associate at the foundation, with him fundamental questions of the<\/strong> Immigration Law<\/strong>: How are asylum and migration already regulated in Germany and the European Union? What leeway do policymakers have to implement stricter regulations? And what rights do refugees and migrants have?<\/p>

The foundation invites the Audience<\/strong> to participate in the conversation by asking questions and engaging in direct dialogue with the guest.<\/p>

The discussion will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Stiftung Forum Recht in downtown Leipzig (Universit\u00e4tsstra\u00dfe 20). Admission is free.<\/strong><\/p>

Since February 2025, the Forum Recht Foundation in Leipzig has been hosting a regular series of discussions through the end of the year \u201eLet\u2019s Talk About Recht\u201c <\/strong>. The guests are Prominent Figures from Various Fields of Law<\/strong>, who talk about their day-to-day work and share their perspectives on a current legal issue.
