Panel discussion, podcast, conferences, democracy festivals and young constitutional discussion: During the anniversary week marking the 75th birthday of the Basic Law on May 23, 2024, the Stiftung Forum Recht will be on the road with exciting events in Karlsruhe, Leipzig, Berlin and Pirna.<\/strong><\/p>

Karlsruhe\/Leipzig.<\/strong> In the week of the anniversary of the Basic Law, the Stiftung Forum Recht is celebrating the 75th anniversary of our constitution with a varied program, but is also looking to the future and asking how fit the Basic Law is for the next 75 years.\u00a0<\/p>

Robust temporary solution?<\/strong><\/p>

On Tuesday, May 21, 2024,<\/strong> the Forum Law Foundation is launching a joint Baden State Library <\/strong>into the anniversary week: At the panel discussion \"Robust provisional solution? 75 years of the Basic Law\" <\/strong>in the rooms of the Badische Landesbibliothek in Karlsruhe<\/strong> experts from the judiciary, academia, politics and society will take stock and discuss the status of the Basic Law in 2024.<\/p>

Conferences in Berlin<\/strong><\/p>

On Wednesday, May 22,<\/strong> and Thursday, May 23,<\/strong> The foundation is a cooperation partner for two large Conferences<\/strong> on the anniversary of the Basic Law in Berlin<\/strong>: The Symposium \"1949 - 2024 - 2049: Remembering the past, mastering the present, shaping the future\" <\/strong>on 22 May, organized by the German Society e.V.<\/strong>asks whether the Basic Law needs to evolve in the face of challenges such as digitalization, globalization, climate change and demographic change. The program curator of the Stiftung Forum Recht, Kathrin Sch\u00f6n, will take part in the discussion at the symposium's closing panel and show what the rule of law looks like in practice.<\/p>

Together with the Federal Agency for Civic Education<\/strong> and the Society for Civil Liberties<\/strong> the Forum Law Foundation is hosting another event in Berlin<\/strong>: The conference \"75 years of the Basic Law - aspiration, reality and future\" <\/strong>on Thursday, May 23,<\/strong> discussed how consent to the rule of law and democracy can be strengthened and how we can ensure that people are aware of their basic rights and use them confidently.<\/p>

Birthday party<\/strong><\/p>

During the Democracy Festival of the Federal Government<\/strong> is the Forum Law Foundation of Friday<\/strong>, May 24 to Sunday, May 26,<\/strong> with a pavilion on the Paul-L\u00f6be-Allee<\/strong> in the Berlin government district<\/strong> provides information about the foundation and offers various interactive games such as a quiz on the rule of law.<\/p>

The Forum Recht Foundation is also involved in Saturday, May 25<\/strong> at the<\/strong> Market of cultures <\/strong>in Pirna <\/strong>as a guest. At the Foundation's stand, interested visitors can not only equip themselves with educational and information materials, but also take part in an entertaining quiz on the anniversary of the Basic Law and on law and the constitutional state. The foundation is also organizing several Table talks<\/strong>where citizens can ask questions to a former Saxon constitutional judge and a representative of the local district court at eye level and without a stage.<\/p>

In guter Verfassung?<\/strong><\/p>

On Wednesday, May 22, appears<\/strong> also the second episode of the new live podcast of the Stiftung Forum Recht and the Podcast radio detektor.fm<\/strong> \"In good shape? The Basic Law for tomorrow\"<\/strong>. Podcast host Rabea Schloz<\/strong> discusses with her guests how extreme parties in Poland, Hungary and Israel have tried to undermine the principles of the rule of law, why they have failed and what lessons we can learn from this in Germany.<\/p>

Even beyond the anniversary week, the Stiftung Forum Recht will continue to deal intensively with questions relating to the anniversary of the Basic Law under the annual theme \"In good shape? The future of the constitutional state\" in 2024, it will continue to focus intensively on issues relating to the anniversary of the Basic Law. One highlight will be the Young constitutional talks 2024<\/strong> as part of the Schlosslichtspiele in Karlsruhe<\/strong> on Saturday, August 10, 2024<\/strong>where young people can put their questions about the constitution and its future to prominent guests on a large stage. And on September 4 and 5<\/strong> find in Leipzig<\/strong> the next Live events<\/strong> to the podcast with a focus on the question of how 75 years of the Basic Law and 35 years of peaceful revolution<\/strong> to each other.<\/p>
