Visitors crowded into every nook and cranny of the event spaces in Karlsruhe to <strong>Piotr W\u00f3jciks<\/strong> to explore photographic perspectives on the resilience and steadfastness of the Polish judicial system and its representatives. The loss of independent constitutional review paves the way for a restructuring of the entire judicial system,\u201c explained <strong>Johannes V\u00f6hler<\/strong>, a research associate at the Chair of European and International Law at the University of Freiburg, during his lecture at the opening ceremony. \u201eThe case of Poland should serve as an opportunity to reflect on the resilience of the rule of law in Germany.\u201c<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-75b477d e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"75b477d\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1d02db4 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"1d02db4\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a5bcdd7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a5bcdd7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The photographer also appealed <strong>Piotr W\u00f3jcik<\/strong> on society\u2019s willingness to engage in dialogue and debate: Due respect for legal representatives and institutions must not, as all too often happens in Poland, turn into reluctance to engage, disinterest, or mistrust. In the panel discussion with <strong>Thomas Stelzl<\/strong>, head of the Education and Outreach Department at the Forum Recht Foundation, the photographer repeatedly emphasized how important it is to show the humanity of the judges and attorneys he portrays. In conclusion, W\u00f3jcik underscored the political dimension of the exhibition: \u201eWhat I\u2019m saying may sound trite: Nothing is certain\u2014not even our fundamental rights and our Constitution. We must defend them every single day. And despite all their differences, they all stand together as symbols of indomitable spirit and an unshakable belief in justice.<\/p><p>Surrounded by the striking images, lively conversations broke out among the approximately 100 visitors: \u201eMy family is originally from Warsaw, so I\u2019ve been confronted with the events in Poland from a young age,\u201c replied a young man, for example, when asked about his interest in the exhibition. He came with a friend; both are high school students active in a political party\u2019s youth organization and enjoy engaging with politics in their free time. \u201eLast fall, I was able to vote in Poland for the first time,\u201c said the 18-year-old, adding that while he was proud of the majority of people in his parents\u201e country who had chosen the path back to democracy and the rule of law, \u201cthere is still a lot of work to be done.\u201d.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b94d1f1 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"b94d1f1\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-841c583 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"841c583\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f635022 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f635022\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>To the photographer and the curator<strong> Dominique Roynette<\/strong> Working together with the foundation\u2019s team, we succeeded that evening in bringing the foundation\u2019s \u201cforum\u201d concept to life: Citizens from a wide range of social, cultural, and political backgrounds gathered here to learn more about the rule of law and to discuss it.
