Karlsruhe.\u00a0<\/strong>As part of a collaboration between the Bavarian Children\u2019s and Youth Festival and the Forum Recht Foundation, approximately 150 filmmakers aged 12 to 26 from all over Bavaria are producing films as part of this year\u2019s festival on July 9, 2022<\/strong>\u00a0Short film clips on justice and the rule of law under the theme \u201eUnboxing the Law.\u201c Custom-packed kits containing prompts and props serve as a creative starting point for exploring the topics\u2014ranging from fundamental rights such as freedom of expression to questions of justice and dystopian scenarios. The results will be published on the websites of the Bavarian Children\u2019s and Youth Film Festival (www.bkjff.de) and the Forum Recht Foundation (www.stiftung-forum-recht.de).<\/p>

Unboxing videos are a phenomenon of the Internet age: They are hugely popular among the young online community and are no longer used exclusively by influencers. In conventional unboxing videos, the focus is on a packaged, new product\u2014such as sneakers, clothing, or a smartphone\u2014which is taken out of its packaging on camera, explained, and immediately tried out. The Forum Recht Foundation is appropriating this popular format and literally taking the rule of law apart. Nadine Korn, Head of Outreach and Education at the foundation, explains: \u201eWe\u2019re adapting a marketing tool like the unboxing video to convey knowledge, inviting viewers to engage with a seemingly abstract topic and break it down to the level of everyday life. In doing so, we aim to establish a connection to the realities of young people\u2019s lives and encourage them to reflect on and discuss legal and social issues.\u201c<\/p>

About the Bavarian Children's and Youth Festival<\/strong><\/p>

The BAVARIAN CHILDREN\u2019S & YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL (BKJFF) is the cultural highlight of the Bavarian youth film scene. After the festival had to move online in 2020, it\u2019s now going hybrid! The films will continue to reach audiences online and will be screened as part of a short film program in W\u00fcrzburg (www.bkjff.de<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>
