The year 2023 is drawing to a close and we can look back on an eventful year for the foundation with exciting projects and offers, especially in relation to our annual theme\u00a0Law and justice<\/strong>. We created spaces for discussion and exchange on this topic in various formats: Is justice always just? What do people understand by justice? Who is actually in charge in a constitutional state?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t

In March, we successfully launched our podcast series \"Justice, Baby!\"<\/strong> was launched. Together with various experts, topics relating to law and justice were examined and discussed in detail in 13 episodes.<\/p>

In June, the\u00a0Location Leipzig<\/strong>\u00a0in Universit\u00e4tsstra\u00dfe - our interim premises were inaugurated with a reading, workshops, open days and a reception with numerous guests from Leipzig's urban society. The diverse public response and the numerous partnerships spun with actors in Leipzig were a successful start. We are very much looking forward to further exchange!

Numerous events also took place in Karlsruhe, such as the artistic-legal research project realized together with the Centre Culturel Franco-Allemand: Zum\u00a0Europe Day 2023<\/strong>\u00a0On May 9, the Swiss artist Yves Mettler developed the work \"Europaplatz (Recht sprechen)\" together with the lawyer Antoine Bailleux. Various ideas and conceptions of Europe were brought to life at listening stations in Karlsruhe's urban space based on specific judgments of the European Court of Justice.

We were also present at numerous locations throughout Germany, with\u00a0Workshops, discussions, artistic projects and collaborations<\/strong>. All of this enabled us to engage in discussions about the law and the rule of law with a wide variety of people from different parts of the population: Whether at a performance project, a film series, a book discussion with the successful authors and lawyers Bernhard Schlink and Philippe Sands, at workshop offerings, at open days at the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg state parliament or at discussion panels - these and other formats created occasions to discuss experiences with law and the rule of law. We would like to thank all our cooperation partners for their great support, which took us to Braunschweig, Dresden, Cologne, M\u00fcnster, Stuttgart, Lyon and Berlin in 2023.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

We have also sought this exchange in the digital space - not only with the offerings on our website and social media channels, but also with the\u00a0Online series \"Law and reality<\/strong>\", which is aimed specifically at young people:

Also with the\u00a0Foundation itself<\/strong>\u00a0a lot has been in motion this year. We have welcomed new colleagues, the planning for our construction projects has received a positive boost, new formats and offers have been developed and we have continued to network beyond our locations. We would therefore like to thank our foundation committees, the Board of Trustees and the Advisory Board in particular for their intensive, trusting cooperation and valuable support for our work!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

What does the Foundation expect, what do you expect in the coming year?<\/p>

In May\u00a02024<\/strong>\u00a0our Basic Law will be 75 years old, and in October 2024 the Peaceful Revolution in Leipzig will celebrate 35 years - reasons to celebrate and many occasions for discussion and debate! Under the theme of the year\u00a0In guter Verfassung? Die Zukunft des Rechtsstaats<\/strong>\u00a0there will be numerous opportunities in 2024 to get into conversation and meet each other. Opportunities include an exhibition on the independence of the Polish judiciary at both of the foundation's locations from February 15 to April 7, city tours on law in everyday life, a live podcast on the Basic Law, action weeks at various locations across Germany, workshops and collaborations with schools and a wide range of partners - and much more!<\/p>
